About WESTERN ALLEGHENY COMMUNITY LIBRARY
Our Mission is to assure that the Western Allegheny Community Library provides the resources that bring the world to our community."
This library is one of the fastest growing in the greater Pittsburgh area. The library opened in November, 1990 with 3400 items. We now have over 44,000--and the demand for materials and services keeps on growing. We have NO MORE SPACE to accommodate our materials, to do adequate programming for children, teens, and adults, or to increase requested services. With advances in technology and information, the demand for books by our voracious readers, and the projected growth within the community, a new facility is essential to the continued fulfillment of this mission.
We've received a building grant that will help us get started but we need to raise a lot more money to achieve our goal of opening our new building in late 2010 or early 2011. Please help us build a new library by donating to our building fund through this website.
