Dear family and friends,
Last year I spoke about how Rocket came into my life. Each moment, each day I have with him is a gift. He is called a rescue dog from GSRNE. Well that is not 100% true. I was the rescued. I have realized that my life is infinitely better for receiving him. This past year I underwent back surgery that if I hadn't had the quality of my life would have continued to decline. After 5 days in the hospital I returned home to a friend's home and to Rocket. I immediately went into bed and Rocket jumped over me and braced himself up against my back. This is what I was supposed to do with a pillow? He was far more solid, warm, and loving. He did not leave me unless I got up. As the days progressed I was limited until I could start walking outside. It was winter and people were fearful it could be treacherous underfoot. After a few trial walks by myself I decided it was time for Rocket to come with me. From the first moment outside and first few steps he never pulled and always went at my pace. To make a long story short - He was my therapy. I eventually was able to walk the distance I had been walking before my back problems. I can even walk (broken up over the day nine miles so far)!
Rocket gave me the motivation, companionship and joy of getting back in physical ability. I also had the gift of being with him for 10 weeks while I was out of work.
My appeal to all of you is please help me once again raise money for this organization that gave me truly the gift of my life. Rocket is just one of the few rescue dogs that I have heard people say their GSRNE dog changed, mended or filled their life when they received their dog. Of course without the ongoing support of contributors this amazing work could not be done. All the dogs have amazing stories. GSRNE puts no price on what the dogs need to become whole again after losing their homes due to owner surrender, health issues or being found lost and unwanted. All of this takes money.
So please help me continue their work and acknowledge the priceless gift I was given so that more dogs and more people can experience what I have. Any amount of donation is appreciated and know that it is making a profound difference.
My sincerest gratitude and appreciation. Rocket also thanks you and says please help my friends find their "forever" homes.
Debbie and Rocket
