This marks my 2nd year participating in the Dallas AIDS Life Walk. Last year, my journey of weight loss and healthy living encouraged me to be more involved with programs which drastically affect our communities.

My testimony from last year's event encouraged me more than ever to participate year after year. Held at Turtle Creek in Dallas, I was amazed at all the different types of people and organizations present. People from all walks of life were there to not only empower but to celebrate life. Quite honestly, I expected to show up, grab a Tshirt, run a 5k and go home...but it was so much more.

I not only volunteered to help with the setup, but I also met some great people, heard some terrific speakers and received a free HIV test. It was amazing to see all these people being tested and not being afraid to talk about a disease which affects SO many lives.

It is my solemn commitment to participate every year to give back my part to the struggle.

After all, if you're not part of the solution, you are part of the problem!
