Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center! I'm walking the 5K for BARCC on April 11th, and I could really use your help! Last year, my family and friends helped me raise enough money to make a real difference in my community and to keep our program running despite the bad economy. Please consider supporting us again.
As many of you know, I spend a lot of nights and weekends volunteering as a Medical Advocate for BARCC, the only organization in Boston that provides comprehensive services to survivors of rape and sexual assualt. As a Medical Advocate, I meet survivors at the hospital following a sexual assualt; I'm there to inform, support, and hopefully comfort survivors and their significant others in the emergency room. One of the most important things that I do with my time is walk into the ER and do my best to let the women, men, and children I meet know that they have options, that they have the power to take back control of their lives, and that rape is something they can survive. In the last year alone, BARCC helped over 4,000 survivors and another 10,000 people through prevention education, training and outreach.
It's been nothing less than an honor that these survivors and their loved ones have welcomed me into their lives in the moment of crisis. The 5K Walk for Change is my opportunity to honor them in return and to do my part to ensure that the free services BARCC offers are not discontinued due to state and federal budget cutbacks.
Whether you love BARCC or you love me, please sponsor me! Five dollars, ten dollars, every dollar counts! Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. Please feel free to forward this page to anyone who might be interested.
Sponsor me! Walk with me! Ask me about volunteering at BARCC! And thank you so much for taking the time to read this page!
