The LaMothes and the Mullowneys are teaming up again this year as Nikka’s Pawtners in support of the annual walk for Fidelco. This year we have both gained and lost a team member. Joining me (Sheila LaMothe), my husband Todd, sister Karen Mullowney, her husband Richard and my adorable niece Samantha is little Sydney – the newest member of team Nikka’s Pawtners.

 While our team has gained one little cutie, we have lost another. This year we are without our team namesake – Nikka. After 16 months of raising Nikka as our first Fidelco Foster pup, on January 9, 2008 Todd and I dropped our little girl off at Fidelco to begin her professional training. She has been in training for about 3 months now and reports are she’s doing well. This year we walk in Nikka’s honor and strive to surpass our fundraising totals from last year to help with Nikka’s “college” expenses. We are hopeful that she will graduate this summer at the top of her class.

Please consider sponsoring Nikka’s Pawtners. There is great demand for the guide dogs and services that the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation provides the visually impaired community. As our family has become increasingly involved with Fidelco over the past few years, we have witnessed first hand the independence these wonderful dogs provide their partners. Raising Nikka was one of the most rewarding experiences we have ever had. So, keep an eye out in the fall for a new addition to the LaMothe family when we hope to raise our second Fidelco Foster pup.
