Wildlife Forever Fundraiser
Supporting conservation one mile at a time.
New E-Newsletter!
Run Wild! takes conservation personally and is Wildlife Forever's first marathon fundraiser aimed to inspire generations of sportsmen and women to get healthy for wildilfe.
Each year, thousands of men, women, and children are diagnosed with diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and cancer. These often preventable diseases stop us from getting outside, doing what we enjoy, and passing on our knowledge and traditions of the great outdoors.
Representing sportsmen and women, and all thoes who love the outdoors, I'll be running the 2009 Twin Cities Marathon, October 4th, in an effort to raise $25,000 for Wildlife Forever.
Not too long ago, I used to only run for ice fishing tip-ups and "Taco Tuesday"! Now, I'll still be running for tip-ups, but I'll also be running to encourage, inspire, and help those who want to get outdoors and create their own conservation legacy. Wildlife and wild places need healthy people dedicated to protecting it for future generations. By donating or pledging, you'll be helping to enhance Wildlife Forever's conservation efforts, and hopefully become inspired to live a healthy outdoor lifestyle.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our new effort.
Click on Sponsor Me Now at the top of the page to offer your support. Get a free Wildlife Forever membership when you donate. Plus, if you donate $50 or more, you'll get a free blaze orange Run Wild! cap, just in time for the race. All donations and pledges are tax deductable and any amount you can pledge is greatly appreciated.
Corporate sponsorship opportunities are available. You and your organization will be making a strong public statement in support of conservation. Promotional opportunities include website advertising, national media recognition, product useage, membership affiliation, and more. Call for details on how your organization can take advantage of our over 20 year tradition of being a leading national multi-species conservation organization.

10/5/09: The marathon yesterday was awesome. I managed to finish in 4hrs and 17 minutes...The last hour was brutal!!! A special thank you to all who supported me and Wildlife Forever. Plans are underway for a 10K and 5K event next year. I hope you will join us! Cheers!!!
10/1/09: Just 3 short days until the big race. I went for a 3 mile run last night and everything felt good. All systems go!!!
9/28/09: Six days and counting! Fall is here and with it are gale force winds. Cool temps are encouraging so let's hope they stay around for Sunday. Lots of birds migrating makes for busy times at the feeders. Running has been a few short runs 5-6 miles at a time. Run Wild!
9/19/09: Today, I felt like Forrest Gump. I kept running and running. What was supposed to be only 22 miles ended up being a 24 mile run. We ran the marathon race course to get familiar with the hills and terrain. Great fall like weather made me very envious of the fishermen on Lake Harriet.
9/2/09: Took an evening run as the sun was setting. Saw a lone doe passing through golden prairie grass. Incredible, no bugs!
8/29/09: 1,000 miles!!! This week was a week to remember. After running my first 20 mile run on Saturday, I've reached 1000 miles in training for the marathon October 4th. The weather was very fall like with temps in the 40's. The nagging headwind didn't help but the countless Bald Eagles, Canadian Geese, kept me going. In 2 weeks I'll have a 22 mile run. Run Wild!
8/27/09: This week I have a 20 mile training run. Who's with me!
8/15/09: I often hear, "are you crazy?" when I tell people I'm running a marathon. Though they are not surprised when I tell them it is for conservation, I had to ask myself the same question this morning when we started running at 5:30 AM!!! Today was another 18 mile run. Running along the beautiful Mississippi River in Hastings with a great group of friends made the 3 hour run go quickly... Oddly there always seemed to be a few Turkey Vultures circling over head... Beautiful sunrise, good run! Run Wild!
8/2/09: On Sunday my Wild Run took me 18 miles. My brother Nick and conquered the "Gateway Trail", an 18 mile path from St. Paul to Stillwater. Perfect running weather. Cool with occasional light rain. We saw lots of deer and wild critters. Two months to go! October 4th, Run Wild!!!
7/18/09: A fishing event hard to beat! A world class double, a 5.5lb and 6 lb Largemouth Bass caught with my good friend . Both were released back into their secret location... Thanks, Ron for the catch of a lifetime.
7/12/09: Today I ran 16 miles...It was my toughest run yet. The hills of Afton were grueling. My Wife and Dad biked along providing the water and support I needed. in 2 weeks, I have an 18 miler!!! Run Wild! (or crazy...)
6/12/09: On a run this week, I encountered a large group of Cedar Waxwings that followed me through the trees for several yards. Awesome little birds. I've got a 12 mile run tomorrow...
5/24/09: I reached the 10.5 mile training mark Sunday. We ran along the Mississippi River on a cloudless morning. Eagles, Turkey Vultures, and Bluebirds were every where we went.
4/25/09: Ran my first 10K race called the Get-In-Gear. I didn't set a land speed record, but I got er' done. It was a good race with thousands of people running.
4/17/09: I officially registered for the Twin Cities Marathon. No backing down now!!!
4/5/09: I hit a new milestone today running 9.5 miles around Como Lake. A huge Bald Eagle perched high in a Cottonwood tree eagerly watched the lake below full of ducks, helped to keep me going.
4/1/09: Well it is official, I hit the 20 lb weight loss mark. That is a huge Bass if you think like I do. This past weekend I ran 8 miles on Sunday. Turkeys were gobbling, several eagles were flying over the St. Croix river. Earlier in the week saw my first loon of the season.
3/15/09 Spring is in the air. Today I saw Trumpeter Swans, Bald Eagles, Blue Birds, and Wild Turkeys. Seing all of that made the 7 mile run worth it.
3/14/09 While running through the neighborhood, I saw a group of 5 deer pass a few yards in front of me.
3/10/09 Ran 5 miles in the freezing rain and sleet. Reminded me of Duck hunting weather. Can't wait until fall.
2/25/09 I pulled a "Cramer" on the treadmill last week and nearly took out 3 others working out in the gym... We all got a good laugh on that one
1/3/2009 My training has begun, I can't wait for the end of "Frost-Bite" season.
