Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! June 7th from 9:30 to 1 is the first Maumee River PaddleQuest. Canoes and kayaks will float down the Maumee River from Grand Rapids to Farnsworth Park - about five miles. Getting people to exp[erience the water is one of the goals of the Western Lake Erie Waterkeeper Association, You can sponsor WLEWA and Freshwater Future - our partner - my paddle by donating through this web site. The Western Lake Erie Waterkeeper Association and Freshwater Future are 501c3's - contriubutions are tax deductable. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support WLEWA fundraising efforts. WLEWA serves the waters and fish of the Western Lake Erie Watershed from the headwaters of the Maumee River in Fort Wayne, Indiana west to Huron, Ohio and Point Pelee in Ontario. These waters are the incubator, the nursery, the canary in the coal mine... Fresh Water Future works on Great Lakes Issues. WLEWA works on education and outreach and many issues including fish kills in power plant intakes, algae, open lake dumping, and factory farms. You can also participate by bringing a canoe or kayak or renting one. The regsitration fee to bring your canoe or kayake is $10 which will inlcude a light brakfast and lunch - to rent a canoe or kayak with registration is $25 - go to westernlakeerie.org for registering and information. There is livery service to take the canoe/kayak back Grand Rapids after lunch and music. Anyone particpating in the paddlefest must sign a waiver of liability form. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
